The hamlet of Pumares, whose main activity in the past was linked to the blacksmiths and iron forges, lies just over half a mile from the village of Santa Eulalia de Oscos in the province of Asturias. A small group of houses, resting in a small valley through which the Agüeira River runs. A hamlet which harmoniously blends into its surrounding forests of oaks, chestnuts, birches, hazelnut and ash trees of remarkable beauty.
A great variety of extremely picturesque walking paths can be reached from the very doorsteps of the Casona itself, thus enabling the visitor to get acquainted first hand with the striking lands around the parish of Santa Eulalia de Oscos. One of the most beautiful walking paths, the Semeira route, starts in the hamlet of Pumares and after an hour walk following the Agüeira River along the forest, it takes us to a lovely place where we find a cascade, a 100 feet high waterfall, surrounded by a spectacular landscape.
…as we cease to be children, we gradually come to realize that these wonderful places can only exist in our imagination, nevertheless in this beautiful corner of Oscos, fairy tales seem to become true before our eyes…
